Boulders Beach

In March 2015 we took another trip down to the Western Cape of South Africa.

On one of our days there we went to Boulders Beach, a sheltered cove near Simon’s Town in South Africa.

The last time we were at Boulders Beach was New Year’s Day 2011. You can read about that trip HERE.

The massive 540 million year-old granite boulders, silky white sand, and crystal clear water was reason enough for us to visit again.

But that wasn’t the only reason we had to go back.

Boulders Beach is home to a breeding colony of over 2000 endangered African Penguins:

And they are so much fun to watch!

The best part is how close you can get to them.

We stayed there for about an hour watching them interact with each other.

When your travels take you to Cape Town, be sure to take a drive to Boulders Beach.

It is less than an hours drive from Cape Town and is on the way to Cape Point and Cape of Good Hope.
