Overture at Hidden Valley
Overture Restaurant at Hidden Valley Wines is situated on the foothills of the Helderberg Mountain in Stellenbosch, South Africa.
Bertus Basson, chef and owner since 2007, has had an essential role in establishing Overture as one of South Africa’s finest restaurants.
He has been on Eat Out’s top 10 South African Restaurants for six years in a row.
We first met Chef Bertus Basson at a Hands-on Big Green Egg demo at Overture in January 2014.
We immediately fell in love with the location of the restaurant and winery and made sure to book a table when we returned in March 2015.
I wish my camera could capture the view.
We sipped on some Hidden Valley Wine and read over the menu:
And then soaked in some more of the picturesque surroundings.
John and I both started with West Coast Memories:
The presentation captured our attention and the flavors blew us away.
John ordered the Beef Fillet for his main course:
And I ordered the Roast Hake:
And last but certainly not least, Crottin de Chavignol with figs:
Crottin de Chavignol is made from goat’s milk and originates from Loire, Chavignol in France.
It was spectacular!
Every dish that afternoon was creative and every bite was better than the last.
Chef Bertus Basson and his team certainly know how to take your tastebuds and all 5 senses on an adventure!
When your travels take you to the Cape Winelands, be sure to book a table at Overture.
Trust me.
