Officina Della Bistecca
In September 2015, John and I drove through Germany and Italy after taking delivery of a car through the BMW European Delivery Program.
As we were planning our route, we agreed to head back to Panzano in Chianti:
And not just because it’s beautiful there. We wanted to return so we could eat dinner at Officina Della Bistecca.
It’s more than a meal. It’s an opportunity every meat-eater should consider doing at least once.
Dario Cecchini is a famous butcher in Italy and can be found at his shop Antica Macelleria Cecchini in the heart of Panzano.
At his restaurant Officina Della Bistecca, it’s all about the beef.
And wine:
And fun!
This was our third time eating at Officina Della Bistecca.
We first discovered Dario and Team in May 2009 and knew we had to return when our travels took us back to Tuscany in May 2012.
The evening begins with complimentary drinks and hors d’oeuvres at Antica Macelleria Cecchini.
Then for just 50€ a person you eat and drink for hours.
We reserved our spot several months in advance and were lucky to get seats at the large table next to the grill.
Wine, fresh vegetables, bread, beans, and potatoes are included in the meal:
But the beef is the star of the show.
From the most delicious tartare you’ll ever taste:
To perfectly cooked Rib Eyes and Porterhouse steaks.
Dario was out of town so his intern blessed the meat.
And then we ate and drank and ate some more.
Can you see why we keep going back?
It’s a carnivore’s delight!
You know what they say about food, whether it’s served on fine china or a paper plate it brings us together.
Panzano in Chianti is an hour south of Florence and 3 hours north of Rome.
If you are ever anywhere near there, you have to go to Officina Della Bistecca.
It’s a meal you’ll never forget, and obviously, worth repeating.
This was our third time but certainly not our last!
Grazie mille Dante, Angelo, and Friends!
Grazie di tutto!
