EGGtoberfest 2013
John and I went to Big Green Egg’s 16th Annual EGGtoberfest in Georgia last weekend.
EGGtoberfest is held every October and is the EggFest of all EggFests.
An EggFest is a venue for people who enjoy cooking on a Big Green Egg or who want to start cooking on one.
It kicked off with a Meet and Greet Party at the Evergreen Marriott Conference Resort.
The main event on Saturday was held at Stone Mountain Park.
The day was filled with blue skies and Big Green Egging!
All of the cooks were busy cooking when we arrived:
So we did our part and started tasting!
There were several breakfast options:
Smores:
French Toast:
Breakfast Sausage:
Breakfast Pizza:
Pumpkin Pie French Toast:
Candied Bacon:
Sausage Egg Muffins:
And Coffee Bourbon Flat Iron Steak.
I consider that breakfast since it has “coffee” in the name.
After about an hour of breakfast, we dove headfirst into lunch.
Tender Elk Loin:
Wings:
Buffalo Chicken Dip:
Sausage:
Pepperoni Wrapped Pineapple:
Bacon Wrapped Dates:
Sausage and Peppers:
Shrimp and Grits:
Beef Sliders:
Chili:
Bacon Wrapped Smokies:
And more sausage:
Are you full yet?
We took a break and walked over to the Big Green Egg tent where we found The Dizzy Pig BBQ Team:
Susan cooked a delicious Maple Butter Glazed Salmon with Kodiak River seasonings:
Check out the new line of Big Green Egg Dizzy Gourmet® Seasonings — good stuff!
I even met Chris Capell:
Let’s just say I was a little starstruck.
Speaking of celebrities, Linkie Marais from the Food Network was there doing a demo:
And just when we thought we were taking a food-break under the tent:
We had to try the chicken:
Pork:
Sausage:
Lamb Meatballs stuffed with olives stuffed with feta cheese:
More chicken:
And Smoked Duck with Gruyère on Brioche:
Okay, it’s time for a REAL food-break . . .
Look at the Big Green Egg XXL:
The cooking grid measures 29.25 inches in diameter for a cooking area of 672 square inches!
That’s large enough to roast a whole hog, 20 racks of ribs, or 40 burgers.
Ready to eat some more?
Here we go . . .
Lunch #2!
Whole Chicken:
Chicago Brisket Chili:
Jalapeño Sliders:
Ribs:
Steaks:
Brisket:
Pizza:
ABTs:
Ham:
More steaks:
More pizza:
Meatballs:
Take a deep breathe — we aren’t done yet!
Fatties:
Buffalo Chicken Grilled Cheese:
More ribs:
More Wings:
Chicken Potpies:
And Beef Wontons:
As you can see, the day was filled with nonstop delicious food . . .
And the best part . . . Friends!
Huge thanks to Big Green Egg, volunteers, sponsors, and all who cooked!
We had an awesome weekend at Eggtoberfest 2013 . . .
See you next year!
