The Pot Luck Club
John and I returned to South Africa in January 2014.
Before we left home, we made reservations at Chef Luke Dale-Roberts’ restaurant, The Pot Luck Club, winner of the 2013 Eat Out Boschendal Style Award.
It is the sister restaurant of The Test Kitchen, Eat Out’s Restaurant of the Year.
Luke Dale-Roberts opened The Pot Luck Club on the top floor of the historic Silo at The Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock.
The artfully designed restaurant offers an amazing 360 degree view of Cape Town.
The steel tabletops, wood furniture, unique lighting, and open kitchen give the restaurant a warm and inviting lofty vibe.
Pot Luck’s creative menu is separated into distinct taste profiles: salty, sweet, sour, bitter, umami.
The Asian fusion small plates are constantly changing with the seasons.
Deciding what to order is the hard part. I wanted one of everything!
We finally decided on 8 dishes to share.
And a bottle of wine.
I didn’t capture pictures of everything we ate — I was too busy oohing and ahhing — but here are a few of the dishes we enjoyed for lunch.
Ceviche Fish Tacos:
Grilled Local Fish:
5-spice Glazed Pork Belly with Cured Roasted Apple:
And cracklin’, oh yeah!
Mushrooms on Toast:
Moroccan Lamb Ribs:
And last, but never least:
Malted Chocolate Fondant with Ginger Ice Cream.
W o w ! W e e !
Every bite was paradise.
Another thing I really enjoyed was the pace of the lunch.
Our waiter strategically brought the dishes to our table allowing us to enjoy each plate without feeling rushed.
The Pot Luck Club is a must.
You’ll need a reservation, so call now.
Thank you so much, Chefs!
We look forward to eating with you again.
