Josef Chromy Wines Cellar Door Restaurant
I read so many wonderful things about lunch at Josef Chromy Wines, that I knew I had to visit during my time in Tasmania.
The Cellar Door Restaurant offers a picture perfect lunch with most tables overlooking the lake and vineyard.
Under the direction of Head Chef Nick Raitt, the restaurant’s philosophy is to showcase the very best in locally sourced regional produce, paired with their award winning wines.
I opted for the Chef’s Choice 4-course Feed Me Menu reasonably priced at 75 AUD per person (about 58 USD).
Lunch began with plump Tasmanian oysters:
And the hits just kept coming.
Chef Nick Raitt combines international techniques with modern Tasmanian cuisine.
His career has been strongly influenced by French cuisine along with Italian cooking:
And his passion for cooking and genuine love of seasonal ingredients certainly came through on each plate.
The simplicity of each individual ingredient is treated with care and respect and left me feeling satisfied but wanting more all at the same time.
I always appreciate when chef’s offer a creative dish without losing the delectable flavors and simplicity of fresh ingredients.
The courses were timed perfectly allowing me to enjoy my meal at a relaxing pace while enjoying the stunning backdrop, and the wine of course.
After lunch I took a stroll around the property which is a must when visiting Josef Chromy Wines Cellar Door.
Josef Chromy, Chef Nick Raitt, and Team: Thank you for a wonderful afternoon!
