The four of us spent last week hiking, rafting, and exploring out west.
We stopped off in Santa Fe for a day and then drove to southwest Colorado for a Family Reunion.
Desert colors are mind-blowing:
Even when framed by an afternoon thunderstorm:
Twenty-one of us invaded Pagosa Springs, CO., a small town about 30 miles north of the state line:
Nine of us stayed in this 5 bedroom log home around the corner from the others:
We drove through the mountains:
Had a picnic:
Watched the sunset transform the evening sky:
Hiked through Mesa Verde:
Stood on rocky cliffs and looked out over the world for miles and miles:
Stood next to wildlife:
And whitewater rafted next to amazing rock formations:
The best part of the whole week was experiencing everything together:
I also learned something important.
The views at 8000 feet above sea level are spectacular, but searing a hunk of beef is WAY easier when there is oxygen in the air.
