Batu Caves, Malaysia
In April 2013 we met our friends, Michelle & Jeff and Vicki & Amir, in Kuala Lumpur for a little sightseeing and eating.
One of our adventures was to the Batu Caves, just 7 miles north of the city.
The Batu Caves is a limestone hill with several caves, Hindu shrines, and temples.
The caves are dedicated to Lord Murugan and a 154 foot high golden statue stands in his honor.
There are 272 steps to the top.
And you won’t be walking them alone.
But don’t worry, the monkeys are harmless and fun to watch.
At the top of the steps, is the Cathedral Cave also known as the Temple Cave.
It is the largest of the cave temples.
The Batu Caves are a short drive from Kuala Lumpur and are definitely worth a visit.
Give yourself about 2 hours to take it all in.
The limestone caves are impressive, the monkeys are amusing, the statues are majestic, and the steps to the top. . .
Will cancel out all of the calories you ate that day.
